FAQ

Festival of Choirs USA ® is a choir competition event being held on August 21, 2010. The location for the event is 807 Skinner Creek Road, Port Allegany, PA, 16743. The Festival is meant to renew and restore the choirs in the churches. Nationally it will help bring about a spiritual renewal across America. The Festival is meant for all churches that have been established for more than three years and view the Bible as authoritative. This event is also for churches who want to give God the glory and compete along with other churches in different Festival categories. The Festival is a free event open to the public. Come and support the churches that have registered for the Festival.

The registration time period will begin on May 1, 2010 and end on August 1, 2010. A registration fee of $100 will be charged to all participating churches and the fee will be returned back to them once they have competed in the festival. Refunds of the registration fee are also available to the registered churches, if they can’t attend, until the registration deadline which is August 1, 2010. After that date, if a church does not compete in the Festival event they will forfeit their entrance fee. The church’s registration information should include the following:

  1. Name of the church, church’s address and phone number.
  2. Name of the church’s contact person and information.
  3. Number of people singing in the church’s choir.
  4. Song choice.
  5. Please register by going to the register page

Participating church choirs from around the region will be divided into groups according to their size. Group Sizes will be 8-12, 13-16, 17-20, 21-24 and 25-28. These numbers are comprised of the choir members from the churches that are singing. If a larger group size is needed it will be considered. Each church will have a minimum of 1 soprano, 1 alto, 1 tenor and 1 bass in their choir. We will have an electronic piano at the Festival for the Choirs to use. The churches can pick a song choice between traditional hymns and contemporary Christian. Song choice must be submitted with the church’s registration by August 1, 2010. Upon receiving the churches registration and song choice, the committee will respond within a week to let them know if their song selection has been accepted. If it hasn’t the church is able to submit another song. We do this so we do not end up with different choirs singing the same song twice. On the Saturday night finale the winners of the different categories will be announced and recognized.

Here’s what’s new for 2010:

If your church does not have a choir singing at the festival’s competition, consider this option. Since the purpose of the festival is to restore the choirs back into the churches, individuals can now represent the church that they attend by participating in the combined Festival’s public choir. Depending on the response this will be a combined choir and will not be judged. Music will be selected and provided by the festival’s committee. The practice will be on the last day of the festival and the choir will sing in the festival’s finale. This is meant to give God the glory and have fun.

Be blessed and have a great day,
